Arab street is formerly flourished in this area on 1822, Kampong Glam land officially allocated to the Malays and other Muslims, including Arab traders were the minority community but success. In 1989, the Urban Development Authority announced Kampong Glam as a conservation area and most of its original architecture has been restored now. After visiting the historic Sultan Mosque in Arab Street, you can go to Bussorah Street which has been turned into a pedestrian area. During the colonial period, this area is the Arab village and used to serve the religious needs of the Muslim community. Today, you can find an eclectic mix of quaint shops that sell new and specialty items such as small jewelry, accessories and small decorative items, and books related to culture and Muslim religious and ethnic Arabs. From Bussorah Street, continue your exciting trip to Muscat Street before turning to Arab Street, which is famous as a textile center in the 1950s and 1960s. You will find silk, batik, lace, organza, and other materials which also provide booking services and suturing.
Walk to the end of Arab Street and you will arrive at North Bridge Road. In the shops, you can find sandalwood, beads; buffer book is specifically used for the Koran, known by the name 'Rehal', toothbrush from wood and other unique items to serve the Muslim community. Goods of the most striking is the basket and goods from rattan and straw are placed on the pavement - from strollers to floor mats, hanging chairs to the tray. As a form of diversity, this area is also have a White Room and the Straits Records which sells tapes and CDs of local bands used. Visit the newly built Mall Bussorah where colorful skirts, scarves and home furnishings calling out from behind the shop window.

Nothing beats Arab Street for bazaar-style shopping with true ethnic character. Here, you can look to the small shops are fun, bid at will and go home with trinkets and souvenirs of the most fascinating at bargain prices. If you want to explore the Arab street, you can ride the MRT and then you have to get off at Bugis MRT Station. Near Bugis MRT Station, you will find shopping areas like Bugis Junction, Bugis Street Market are crowded, and of course Kampong Glam. Rows of conservation shop houses which is painted in cheerful colors meet Bussorah, Baghdad and Kandahar Street, and many of which are occupied by the company design and IT companies, restaurants, catering services, art galleries, and craft and souvenir shops.
